Borrego Springs State Park

A drive longer than Mike expected from Palm Springs, but well worth it. The adventure in early April to Borrego Springs State Park was delightful. Mike ventured there to find the well advertized wildflowers. 2008 was a great year for the wildflowers through California. So, Mike headed out into the desert with his water bottle, hiking stick, hat and camera. He just followed the line of cars to the various publized areas in the Borrego Springs area. Blue, purples, yellows and white flowers were spread out through the area. It was to the end of the season, but the flowers were still alive and well. Also, alive were the "Sphinx Moth Catepillars" that were eating all low lying vegetation. The Borrego Springs area is NOT Palm Springs. But, it is a beautiful area the caters to hikers, campers, photographers and desert ATVs and motorcycles. Best time to visit, like most desert areas in Southern California, is from late February into mid May. Click on the link below to view some fun photos, and the worms:

Hello Mike and Nancy,
Let me introduce myself, I am Heidi Beach, Katie's Mom.I have enjoyed your Blog, and seeing your family pictures. I was telling Katie about a Century Ride I was planning on attending in March, when she said," Mom you should chech out Stews on the go web site". Here I am learning all about your family and thought I would drop a line to say hi. Maybe I will get a chance to meet both of you someday. Happy Trails, Heidi.
